What exactly is Panomni-D? It is a hard gelatin capsule marketed by EMK Omni Pharma containing Pantoprazole Sodium IP equivalent to Pantoprazole 40 mg in gastro-resistant pellets and Domperidone IP 30 mg in prolonged-release pellets.
Why are two molecules combined in one capsule? Acidity often comes with slow stomach emptying, fullness and nausea. Pantoprazole reduces acid production while domperidone supports gut movement, so one capsule addresses both sides of the problem when a doctor judges both to be present.
What category does it belong to? Anti gastric and acidity. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor and domperidone is a prokinetic agent.
Is Panomni-D a painkiller or an antacid syrup? Neither. It does not neutralise acid on the spot the way a syrup does, and it is not a pain medicine. It reduces the amount of acid the stomach makes over time.
Taking it: timing, food and missed doses
Before food or after food? Medicines of this class are generally taken on an empty stomach a short while before a meal, most often before breakfast. Your prescription is the final word.
Can I open the capsule? No. Opening, chewing or crushing it destroys the gastro-resistant coating on the pantoprazole pellets and releases the domperidone all at once.
What if I forget a dose? Take it when you remember, unless the next dose is close, in which case skip it. Never take two capsules together to catch up.
How long before I feel better? Many people notice gradual improvement over several days. If nothing changes in the period your doctor mentioned, go back for review rather than increasing the dose.
