Who needs extra caution with Rosomni-A 75/10, which medicines and habits clash with aspirin and rosuvastatin, and the blood tests doctors commonly order alongside it.
Pregnancy, Breastfeeding and Family Planning
This is one of the clearest cautions with a statin and aspirin combination.
Cholesterol is needed for normal development of a baby, so statins are not used during pregnancy. Women who could become pregnant are usually asked to use reliable contraception while on a statin, and to tell the doctor at once if a period is missed or a pregnancy is planned. Statins also pass concerns to breastfeeding, so an alternative plan is normally arranged for nursing mothers.
The pack itself carries a specific warning: do not take this product during the last three months of pregnancy unless directed by a doctor, because aspirin taken near the time of delivery may cause bleeding problems in the mother and the baby.

Tell your doctor before starting if any of these apply:

- liver disease, hepatitis or a history of raised liver enzymes
- reduced kidney function, which can affect the statin dose your doctor selects
- an underactive thyroid that is not yet controlled, as it raises the risk of muscle problems with statins
- gout, because aspirin can affect uric acid handling
- G6PD deficiency
- planned surgery, dental extraction or an endoscopy in the near future
Older adults need particular care: bleeding risk rises with age, kidney function often falls quietly, and several medicines are usually in play at once.
Medicines That Interact with Aspirin and Rosuvastatin
Never add a medicine to this combination without asking, including something bought across the counter.
Interactions that raise bleeding risk:
- other anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen, diclofenac and naproxen, which can also blunt the antiplatelet effect of aspirin
- warfarin, acenocoumarin and the newer oral anticoagulants
- other antiplatelets such as clopidogrel, unless the doctor has deliberately combined them
- steroids taken by mouth
- some antidepressants of the SSRI group
- herbal products with blood-thinning tendencies
Interactions that raise muscle risk with rosuvastatin: fibrates, especially gemfibrozil, colchicine, ciclosporin, certain antiretroviral and hepatitis C medicines, and some antifungals.
Rosuvastatin can also increase the effect of warfarin, so the INR is watched closely. Antacids with aluminium or magnesium lower rosuvastatin absorption if taken together, so spacing them by about two hours is common advice. Aspirin interacts with methotrexate, some diabetes medicines and certain blood pressure medicines.
Alcohol, Food and Daily Habits
Regular or heavy drinking adds to the risk of stomach bleeding with aspirin and to liver strain with a statin, and it pushes triglycerides up. Most doctors advise cutting alcohol right down or stopping. Tell your doctor honestly how much you drink.
Grapefruit interferes strongly with some statins. Rosuvastatin is less affected than several others, but your doctor can advise whether to avoid it.
Tobacco in every form works directly against what this medicine is trying to do, and support to stop is worth asking for. A diet with less fried and bakery fat, fewer sweets, more vegetables and pulses, and controlled salt supports the medicine rather than competing with it.
Tests Your Doctor May Order
Monitoring is part of treatment, not an extra. Depending on your history your doctor may ask for:
- a lipid profile before starting and repeated after some weeks, then at intervals
- liver function tests around the start and later if there is a reason
- creatine kinase if you complain of muscle pain or weakness
- kidney function tests, and sometimes a urine test
- fasting blood sugar or HbA1c, particularly if you have diabetes or are at risk
- a haemoglobin check if there is any suggestion of bleeding
- an INR check if you also take warfarin
