How to Store Nicomni-5 Tablets in Indian Conditions

The storage instruction printed for Nicomni-5 is specific: Nicorandil Tablets IP 5 mg should be stored in a dry place at 2 degrees C to 8 degrees C.

That is a cold storage range, the same band used for many refrigerated pharmacy items. In practice it means the main compartment of a household refrigerator, not the freezer and not the door shelf where the temperature swings every time the fridge is opened.

Two words in that instruction do the work. Dry means the tablets must be kept away from moisture, which matters because the tablets are uncoated. 2 to 8 means both extremes are a problem: too warm and the product sits outside its stated condition, too cold and freezing can damage it.

Always read the label on your own bottle at the time of purchase and follow exactly what is printed there. If the storage line on your pack differs from what you expect, ask the chemist before leaving the counter.

Nicomni-5 comes as a bottle of 20 tablets, and the caution on the pack states that remaining tablets should be discarded 8 weeks after the bottle is opened.

This is an easy instruction to forget, so make it visible. On the day you first open the bottle, write the date on the label with a permanent marker, or write the discard date directly. A note in your phone calendar eight weeks ahead works just as well.
